Alright, i have been running into this problem for a while and finally figured out how to go in and fix it, so i thought I'd make a quick tut for those still looking at the nastys.Problem:Certain L4D2 custom maps are missing textures and/or models, even with L4D2 addon support installed. These maps use props or textures from L4D1, so the problems are understandable. Not acceptable, but understandable.Solution:The solution is to copy all the L4D1 assets into L4D2. Problem is, its not as easy as it sounds. I'll split this up into three steps to keep it simple.Part 1First you need to prepare for the transfer, so on your desktop make a folder and name it 'boobies' (Name it it whatever you want, we will delete it after we are done). Once that is done you need to locate the needed L4D1 assets, so go to 'my computer', and navigate to:C:Program FilesSteamsteamappscommonleft 4 deadleft4deadIn this folder you will need to select ALL of the.vpk files (the ones with the black steam icons) and copy them. Now open that folder we made on your desktop and paste them into it (it will take a little while). Part 2Alright, now that you have all the files you have to.

Rename all of them. Oh yes, this will be fun lol. Luckily, all you need to do is replace the 'pak01' with 'pak02', so it doesn't take too long. Once you finish, double check that you didn't miss any: its really easy to skip one and have it mess things up if you dont catch it now.

Part 3Now that you have the files and they are named properly, you just need to put them back in the right place. Open up the L4D2 folder, located here:C:Program FilesSteamsteamappscommonleft 4 dead 2left4dead2And then just drag or copy the files in. If you get a message asking if you want to replace a file, say NO!

Then go check the files you renamed: you missed one. When they are all in the L4D2 folder delete the folder we made on your desktop and you're good to goThat's it folks, you should now be able to see all the L4D1 assets ingame and only have lingering nightmares about missing textures =).

From GMod Wiki

This function calls GM:PreCleanupMap before cleaning up the map and GM:PostCleanupMap after cleaning up the. Entity classes not to reset during cleanup. To “fix” this issue, type matspecular 0 in console. Your game will be frozen for a minute while your game re adjusts its settings. Although this will fix the pink and black checkered reflections on shiny objects, objects will no longer appear shiny as a result. The only way.
